How do you become a CSA member?
To become a CSA member with Greenman’s Garden please contact me, Claude Mahmood, at 360-432-3520 and download the following form: CSA Member Form (pdf). Please be sure to read through the information and if you have any questions feel free to ask. It is a first come, first paid, unless otherwise arrangements have been made with me.

“We find ourselves in a world that is already planted, but is also still being planted as at first.”
- Henry D. Thoreau

“Cultivators of the earth are the most valuable citizens. They are the most vigorous, the most independent, the most virtuous, and they are tied to their country, and wedded to its liberty and interests by the most lasting bonds.”
- Thomas Jefferson

What is a CSA?
CSA is a relation between a local farmer and a community member. It is a commitment between two neighbors to support one another and to help one another to create a more localized community.

I want people to understand that a CSA is more then a mere business transaction between one stranger to another stranger. When you join into a CSA you will get to know the farmer and hear about what is happening out at the farm and in some cases you might be required to come out to the farm and help for a day or two in one way or another and you get to hear and see the good with the bad. I want people who are interested in Community Supported Agriculture to do it, not because some article in a magazine said it is a cool thing to do, or because others say it something that is worth doing; I want people to understand that when you sign up to become a CSA member you become connected to a piece of land, and that you are a part of that farm in someway.

I share this because with the new rush and "cool" trend toward "local" catches on, for me as the farmer who is in the field it is about a life style, not to be cool but because I really want people to feel that they are a part of something that is small but makes a big difference to me the farmer and to you and the community. I put my heart and soul into what I do because I love doing it and I hope that you get that sense when you talk to me, when you come out to the farm and see what is going on out there or with what ever farm you sign up for.

So I want you as a person to really sit down and ask yourself why are you really looking at signing up to become a CSA member with a farm? I hope the answer comes somewhere from within your heart!

What do you get out of the deal?
As CSA member you will get for 20 of weeks fresh, ecologically sound, heart felt, pain stackingly grown food and when you eat it, you will have moments of excitement, uncertainty (because you are not sure what to do with that unusual food that you have never eaten), joy, surprise, and there will be moments of disappointment and sadness when one product goes out of season and sometimes you will be all to happy to see that veggie go away because you have had it for the last 4 weeks and you want something new! You will also get some of the most nourishing food of the finest quality and you will get the joy of cooking and hopefully you will share this enjoyment with friends and family! After all what is a good meal if not shared with those you care about.
